The arc of Wyclef Jean’s artistic career has gone from unknown to the Fugees to international superstar. The Toussaint St. Jean logo dials it back to something grittier, rooted in history, and still connected to Wyclef the man.

Roughly based on the Haitian hero, Toussaint L’Ouverture, Toussaint St. Jean is a stage in the life of Wyclef Jean. He is his own man but is not completely separate from Wyclef. To create a logo encompassing this, GLG dove into the life of L’Ouverture and his part in the Haitian revolution. Reminiscent of late 18th-century writing styles, the logo’s vivid red typeface speaks of blood and violence, all too familiar to those whose history lies on the battlefield or the street.
