An Ode to Microsoft Teams

O Microsoft Teams,

How do we love thee? Let me count the ways.

We love thee to the depth and breadth and height

Our teams can reach, when feeling out of sight.

For the meetings and ideal pace,

We love thee to the level of every day’s

Most urgent client need, by day and by night.

We love thee freely, as we strive to do right.

We love thee gratefully, as we create and collaborate.

We love thee with the passion put to use

In our new griefs, and in our faith for the future.

We love thee with a love we seemed to lose

In our office space. We love thee with the breath,

Smiles, meetings of all our love; and, when we can hug again,

We shall love thee for everything thou hast done for us.

My deep apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning for the appropriation of one of her most beautiful sonnets. But we have to say that our love and passion for Microsoft Teams know no bounds during these uncharted days. We are a Microsoft shop through and through with Office 365 and Microsoft Azure and all things .NET, so it was natural that we went to Skype and then on to Microsoft Teams. OK, I admit, there might have been a gripe or two as we figured out how to share and how the audio worked. But today, Day 15 of our virtualness, we couldn’t be more grateful. Microsoft Teams has made our shift to our home offices seamless. We have been newly diligent about turning our cameras on, if only to prove to each other that we exist, and that we are not still in our pj’s.

Our brand team has run an in-depth brand discovery meeting with Teams, our executive creative director has art directed a photo shoot via Teams, and every afternoon we take a communal Teams coffee break for anyone to jump on, so we can hear all our voices, see all our faces, and have hat competitions: cowboy hats, mouse ears, the Hogwarts Sorting Hat—all are welcome.

This Friday we are donning our favorite sports team garb . . . care to join us? We’ll send you a Teams link!
